Reading in G major
This is where Movement A's hand meets Movement B's eye. One sharp in the signature — every F is
F♯ — read by interval, land the high 2 on the D string.
The octave, read one note at a time
60 bpm
G major, open G to the octave above, crossing strings at open D. Not a scale you hum — a real decode each time: symbol, name, apply the key, string, finger.
A phrase — and F♯ every time
58 bpm
Every F here is F♯ — high 2 on the D string — because the signature says so, even though no sign is printed next to it.
The same phrase, fighting the key
58 bpm
Now with F natural — low 2, pulled back. Against a G-major ear it sags. This is the note the key signature was protecting you from.
The usual mistake
Playing low 2 for F — the natural — where G major wants F♯, the high 2. In a one-sharp key,
your 2nd finger lives forward on the D string.
Try
Play the phrase from the notation, F♯ every time. Then the natural version. Then back to F♯.
Let your ear, not the label, tell you which one G major wants.
